Mark Cuban from the ABC reality show Shark Tank, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and founder of HDNet (Now, AXS TV) and MicroSolutions, is one of my favorite Sharks. Why? Mainly because of my all time favorite quote by him: “What’s your grind?” On a February 2016 episode of the show, an entrepreneurial contestant pitched the “FloatBaby” service and confidently conveyed the numbers to the Sharks as Mark watched on. When the contestant finally made eye contact with Mark, he asked her, “What’s your grind?” The contestant froze in place, stumbled on her words, and looked like a deer in headlights. Mark’s answer? “I’m out!” And the rest of the sharks quickly followed suit.
Mark’s point was, what’s your hustle? What are you doing to get your brand, idea, or product out and in front of the world. For instance, I recently visited Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts (my second home; LOVE IT!!!) and truly enjoyed my mini-vacay alone. Four days on the beach; I biked 20+ miles everyday and sat on the porch to look at the waves coming in. I was in the pure state of tranquility, peace, joy, and happiness.
The last day of vacay, I decided to visit all the boutique stores on Circuit Avenue and pitch my 2BMe Jewelry collection. It was a pensive experience, but I knew that I had to be on my GRIND. With Mark’s encouraging words, I entered six boutiques. For my efforts, I was given amazing advice, suggestions, and praise for my idea, the brand and design.
I left each boutique feeling great and very hopeful, but also a little disappointed after reflecting on those who turned me down. But, I’m elated for the two boutiques who gave me a shot (Third World Trading Co. and Slight Indulgence) and took one sample on consignment. I am totally psyched!!
From that experience, I am back on my grind (daily); revamping my 2BMe Jewelry collection. Which, I learned from my visit that the first step I need to take is transferring production to the U.S.A.; sorry, China, because I really liked your price points.
My attitude now and words of encouragement to you: If you don’t ask, then you’ll never know if your brand, idea, or product will get its chance, if it’s strong enough for the world to know about you. Please stay tuned, because my 2BMe Jewelry collection will be a household name sooner than you think.

What does it take to be great? Or to shine bright like the star Jayna Brown, the contestant on America’s Got Talent who got the #GoldenBuzzer from One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson. Her rendition of Audra Day‘s song, “Rise Up”, will leave you speechless and offering her a standing ovation.
When I created the “2BMe” Jewelry collection, my underlying message and platform was to create something unique that represented the strong, resilient, relentless, feisty, loving, sassy, caring, confident, outstanding, irresistible, irreplaceable, daring, excellent, and tenacious… which is our true individuality, our true identities. The tag line I wrote sums up what the 2BMe Jewelry collection means: “To Know Me…Is To Love Me…Just Because.” In other words, without condition.
Too many times, women feel like they need to change some integral aspect of themselves to be accepted: hair style, clothing choices, or the shape of her body. The 2BMe symbol depicted on each necklace and bracelet reminds women that being just as they are, and being known just as they are, is enough to receive love. It is also enough to love self. Something more women, and more people, really, need to learn how to do without being self-centered or selfish. It is a genuine nurturing of the spirit, of the inherent self, that so many people are taught to deny.
Part of my marketing strategy in creating the 2BMe Campaign is to help women remember to love themselves enough to have the emotional resilience to love others just as fiercely, with just as much strength.
2BMe is the first of it’s kind of jewelry because it represents that you have embraced your true self, and that you wear your badge of honor proudly; it is jewelry that motivates, that inspires, and encourages one’s true SELF, builds confidence, uncovers one’s greatness and potential. Girls, young women, and mature women have a relentless, resilient, and determined spirit that shines like silver and gold on all levels.
Wearing this valuable item with an inspiring message will remind the wearer that she is valuable, that she is worthy of care, investment, and love. Every woman needs to be reminded of this, just as every woman needs to be reminded that she isn’t alone in this quest. This line of jewelry was created with great role models in mind, especially the likes of Harriet Tubman, Penny Chenery Tweedy, Rosa Parks, Oprah, and Joy Mangano, to name just a few, who took a chance, embraced life, and found fulfillment from within their unique spaces in the world. When more women do this, if more women feel they already have the power to do this, the progress propelled by that power can change the world for the better. Creating the Lovin Self brand and establishing the 2BMe Campaign is my attempt to harness that power, share it with struggling and doubting women, and help each of them to take a step in her own direction.
