Love Asked… Do you Believe?

“Do you believe that you are worthy of #Happiness, Success, Abundance, Comfort, Fulfillment, Peace, Joy, and Love?” Because worthiness is actually a part of your birthright, says Oprah.

“What you #Believe…YOU will Achieve…” – Oprah

Wow, what a way to start 2017! With amazing videos that will nurture your spirits, inspire your hearts and mind to NEVER GIVE UP, and, most importantly, to BELIEVE that you can achieve your passionate dream. Hold steadfast to your beliefs by seeing yourself in the belief, focusing on the belief, and executing by achieving the belief. “What you believe…You will achieve.”

In the January 2017 Lovin Self monthly newsletter (please read & share), The LoveLetter, my editor Melissa Swenka (AMAZING) wrote a compelling article called, “Embrace Destruction of SELF.”  After I read the article, the goosebumps did return. But, at first, my eyebrows were raised. Why? Because impatient people might miss the mark and the powerful message would be ignored. She captivated my attention, and I was looking forward to feeding my spirit with more. More about what actually happened to the #Phoenix, and how it was reborn and came out of the ashes, anew. HELLO!!! We really need to meditate on that section in the newsletter because:

“Through the deepest and darkest of moments, we can rise above and become great, better, and stronger.” – Melissa Swenka

Life is challenging, and will throw you a few, or even many, curve balls (i.e., no money to fund your start-up business, working with very little capital, the only financial funding is your paycheck that already has monthly dibs). But, you can find a way. You might visit Fiverr to get certain things done for your business for just $5 (YouTube channel design, SEO improvements, Photoshop Illustrations, etc.), or Guru, which has helped many get published by finding master editors (hint, hint), like Melissa. Love her!!! And she is beyond exceptional. I’m just sayin’.

Every time that I need to be inspired, hopeful, joyous within my spirit, I find one of #Oprah’s awesome speeches on YouTube. Aah!!! I Love me some Oprah… her loving, positive, and inspiring spirit will condition your mindset that you are not alone or far from achieving your goal… if you truly believe. Every single time that I watch Oprah give an inspirational speech, chills and goosebumps cascade over my entire body. Proof to me that God is in agreement, and that my spirit is open to receiving her knowledge and gift. #AMEN!!

Let’s begin…

I have faced a few challenges at the beginning of this year (2016) in that I lost my job in 2015, could not wait to get off of unemployment, and was excited about my newly launched auditing business. Fast forward to the end of 2016, and the start of 2017, where I had to embrace and accept another side hustle and was beyond thrilled when my former employer called me back to work. AMEN!!! When your monthly bills are due, they don’t want to hear that “the check is in the mail.” I am on my daily #GRIND every day, challenging as it may be, but I will NEVER GIVE UP! It’s not an option, and my spirit will never allow me to succumb to defeat. And my kindred spirit, Harriet Tubman, won’t allow it either. Trust me when I tell you that I see, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, my success. It also happens to be one of my all-time favorite movies starring Barbara Streisand.

What I definitely know for sure (thanks, Oprah) is that a 9 to 5 will never be your saving grace nor is it cracked-up to be your end all, be all; as you definitely need and MUST have a side hustle. Too bad that I learned this life lesson later on in life; but then I need to remember that it’s never too late to learn valuable life lessons. Kudos to ALL those homeowners who utilize their homes to bring in an extra income (Airbnb), just to make ends meet (a side hustle).

Again, I have watched (now over 15+ times) The Big Short which always reaffirms in me that I have to work for SELF; especially if I want to feel success for my life. Yes, many are up in arms about how our Presidential election ended. But, what you should be focused on is how YOU are going to change your life “financially” for the better. Money is Power… but Success is much greater, just ask Oprah, J.K. Rowling, Ralph Lauren, Steve Harvey (latest book: Jump), and Sara Blakely of Spanx.

You are the Captain of your ship, and the master of our Soul. Only you can affect change, improvements in your life, with the secret of BELIEVING!!!

Recently, I purchased Evan Charmichael‘s (someone I highly respect) latest book entitled, Your One Word. He gave me a HUGE shout-out on YouTube. Thanks, Evan!!

With that message of joy and love, let’s get focused because I want to help you stay encouraged, killing the myth that you can’t achieve your greatness, and remind you–like I remind myself–that it is in every one of us to succeed. But first we MUST believe that we can.

Let’s take a quick break: simply close your eyes and envision, see yourselves being successful or celebrating the success of your dreams.

In the hopes it will fuel your vision of success, I will share with you my One Word: Joy!!! From my music, friends, the company that I keep, the core value in my Lovin Self brand, within my spirit is the word Joy. I’ve always had a joyous spirit, and continue to work to sustain that spirit within. I am looking forward to sharing My One Word with Evan.

This is how I am laying the foundation with my One Word: #JOY

  • Joy gives power to what you Believe
  • Joy encourages the Heart, Mind, and Spirit
  • Joy adds Love to your journey
  • Joy tells you to Never Give Up
  • Joy says lean in to your Dream

317939_417952268280901_359491228_nLearn to focus your attention in your space and not others’ because when you measure yourself up to others, you will always come up short. Remember that we only have power in the territory that we own. We are the master of our own Faith. When we learn to just take care of our territory and manage that, all the Glorious, Wondrous possibilities will be waiting for us.

Finding Joy in Your Journey

invictus-12-5-16-ls-post
Source: Quora.com

After the Presidential Election ended and the new US President was chosen (Donald J. Trump), many were disheartened, cried, and were literally in shock that #Trump won the election. I was, too, but not in the sense that you think. A New Yorker, who seriously did not take to heart that he was going to ever win this election, who was fed up with both parties in Washington, knew that he would be the game-changer in Washington. But, most importantly, when he realized that his chances were incredible to win, like every New Yorker, he didn’t quit. Trump knew that he could never quit, but had to see the race to the end.

Right after the election, Steve Harvey said, “Now is the time to jump off the edge of the cliff, and embrace your dreams. Believe in yourself, get focused, continue to plan, but you have to execute your plan.” Steve Harvey is so right. Regardless of how the Presidential Election turned out, what are #YOU going to do to impact, change, and elevate your life to success?

Steve sat down with #Oprah and he had asked her what was her first “Jump moment.” She told him her first “Jump moment” was when she left Baltimore, MD to move to Chicago; which many told her that she would fail. NOT!!! And her second “Jump moment” was starting her network OWN and ignored ALL the nay-sayers. She avoided reading the negative press because it was generating Bad Energy, hurtful, and she knew it was definitely NOT of #God.

Since I have discovered my Good Energy, I continue to work at staying deeply rooted in Good Energy, and it is challenging. Why? Because you surround yourself on a daily basis with people (family, friends, co-workers, etc.) who are operating in Bad Energy unbeknownst to them, which will trigger you to react to the Bad Energy. It simply is not good or healthy for your Good Energy and spirit. I have been struggling at trying to keep my mind focused on staying in the realm of #positive energy, because I felt that I kept missing the mark (or hearing God’s voice).

What did I do next? I #prayed to God, sat in my prayer closet, and He revealed to me: “Be Still, Be Still, Be Still (3x, a number that is very important to me, representing the Trinity (the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost)) and know that I AM GOD.” Wow, I thought, I received the message loud and clear. A week before this revelation, I was home and there was nothing on TV to watch. I was working on a client’s audits, but my spirit was craving for nourishment. I turned on my #Amazon #FireStick, went directly to #YouTube, typed in Oprah, and guess what I found?

Oprah Speaks at Essence 2016 Festival.” My Spirit #JUMPED for #JOY the anticipation was great, and I immediately grabbed a pen and had my journal ready. I was #focused, glued to the TV, and was ready so I thought to myself. The 45-minute segment took me 2 hours to watch because I would replay what she was saying a thousand times. Especially, the vital points about how you really succeed with God’s dream for you. It blew my mind, inspired this post, and clearly showed me how God showed up and out in my life on that day–and moving forward.

“God works through our #FAITH and not our Fear”

First and foremost, you have to BE STILL (repeat that 3 times) and know that God’s got you and He will lead and direct your path. Meaning: stop being anxious, operating on “auto-pilot”, stop what you are doing and trying to figure out the executed plan. It’s not your job to figure it out; that’s God’s job to do it for you. When we seriously learn to STOP making decisions based on the Cause and Effect factor; and learn to Be Still, Hear God’s Voice (the positive energy), and then react based on what God advised you to do, then you will see how your plan of action will be successful and executed in the right order.

Why? Because He is ordering your steps, creating good order (vital and very important to your plan of action), and will ALWAYS bring or put something in your path that will enhance, elevate, or complement what it is that you are trying to do, accomplish, or get done. Trust me, this is true as I am currently experiencing it right now. When you are tapped into His energy pool, God will help and move your dream and/or project along in the right order and direction, with the right message and people. But if you are on auto-pilot, you will miss the mark because you did not hear God’s voice. He will put people, or things, in your path that will confirm that this is what you “really” needed to get from point A to B.

Trust me, I am witnessing it right now in my life and am humbly grateful that He had to do an immediate intervention in order for me to hear His voice, His plan of action in my life, so that I can get my blessing and the favor that He has for me. Thank you, Lord!!! I had to take heed and listen, and hear His Voice (I’ll tell you how that was revealed as well), which I was struggling with during meditation. But because God is beyond #AMAZING, He literally handed me the message that I had to hear; to hear His voice.

Right after my morning meditation session with God today, I did hear him tell me to spend some time with my Bible App, and tap into my neglected Plans that I have not been committed to doing.  But this morning, I opened Worship Changes Everything. It’s a 12-day devotional by Darlene Zschech. I opened Day 6 which was dated June 26, and WOW!!!! She started saying when you draw nearer to God, He will draw nearer to you. At that point, I’m flabbergasted because God was giving me what I needed to draw closer to Him. My spirit started jumping for joy, I became a sponge and was hungry to feed my spirit with what I was about to learn.

Darlene was saying, learn to commune with God in EVERYTHING on a continuous basis. Form a habit of conversing with God continuously, refer ALL that I am doing, trying to execute or accomplish, MUST be discussed with God first. She talked about building a “Strong Spiritual Muscle” so that you are tapped into God’s good energy to which you want to be unconsciously connected, because you want it to become the norm.

Oprah talking to the audience on what God has done for her and what He will do for you: “I want you to live the Dream. And it’s not because I’m special. It’s because I was obedient to The Call of the Dream”

Psalm 139 says, He hemmed me in (this is so powerful), behind and before me, laying His hand upon me gently. Darlene’s interpretation was that “God’s presence defines us, sets us apart, strengthens us, penetrates our very being, and brings joy and strength as we draw nearer (James 4:8).” So when we learn to talk to God constantly, conversing with Him, building a better communicative relationship with Him, we are drawing closer to Him. Building a Strong Spiritual Muscle, as well. Hearing His voice loud and clear, ordering our steps, and helping us execute the plan that He had in store for us is bring us closer to seeing OUR DREAMS come true.

How do we build Strong Spiritual Muscle?

  • Be diligent in communicating with God continuously
    • We will feel His Love inwardly and outwardly, exciting us without any indifference
  • Form the habit of communicating with God in EVERYTHING
    • When we draw nearer to God, He draws nearer to us.
  • Refer EVERYTHING to God

In conclusion, God’s Dream for you is at your fingertips, right in front of you. You no longer have to fret or feel flustered on your journey because God is ordering your steps, because you have tapped into His realm, His energy, and His Love. Oprah said (this is VERY IMPORTANT), “Stop fighting, pushing against, disallowing against, resisting against, and trying to tell the Creator of the Universe, Forces of Divine Intelligence what ‘I am supposed to do’.  And get STILL and know for sure what His Dream, The Dream is for you.”  Remember that “you are the master of your faith and the captain of your soul.” So with a #joyous #heart, #mind, and #spirit enjoy it because God’s favor and blessings are about to be revealed to you.

Love Your Brand Called Y❤️u

“A Star is Born… And It’s You!”

What does it take to be great? Or to shine bright like the star Jayna Brown, the contestant on America’s Got Talent who got the #GoldenBuzzer from One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson. Her rendition of Audra Day‘s song, “Rise Up”, will leave you speechless and offering her a standing ovation.

When I created the “2BMe” Jewelry collection, my underlying message and platform was to create something unique that represented the strong, resilient, relentless, feisty, loving, sassy, caring, confident, outstanding, irresistible, irreplaceable, daring, excellent, and tenacious… which is our true individuality, our true identities. The tag line I wrote sums up what the 2BMe Jewelry collection means: “To Know Me…Is To Love Me…Just Because.” In other words, without condition.

Too many times, women feel like they need to change some integral aspect of themselves to be accepted: hair style, clothing choices, or the shape of her body. The 2BMe symbol depicted on each necklace and bracelet reminds women that being just as they are, and being known just as they are, is enough to receive love. It is also enough to love self. Something more women, and more people, really, need to learn how to do without being self-centered or selfish. It is a genuine nurturing of the spirit, of the inherent self, that so many people are taught to deny.

Part of my marketing strategy in creating the 2BMe Campaign is to help women remember to love themselves enough to have the emotional resilience to love others just as fiercely, with just as much strength.

2BMe is the first of it’s kind of jewelry because it represents that you have embraced your true self, and that you wear your badge of honor proudly; it is jewelry that motivates, that inspires, and encourages one’s true SELF, builds confidence, uncovers one’s greatness and potential. Girls, young women, and mature women have a relentless, resilient, and determined spirit that shines like silver and gold on all levels.

Slide1Wearing this valuable item with an inspiring message will remind the wearer that she is valuable, that she is worthy of care, investment, and love. Every woman needs to be reminded of this, just as every woman needs to be reminded that she isn’t alone in this quest. This line of jewelry was created with great role models in mind, especially the likes of Harriet Tubman, Penny Chenery Tweedy, Rosa Parks, Oprah, and Joy Mangano, to name just a few, who took a chance, embraced life, and found fulfillment from within their unique spaces in the world. When more women do this, if more women feel they already have the power to do this, the progress propelled by that power can change the world for the better. Creating the Lovin Self brand and establishing the 2BMe Campaign is my attempt to harness that power, share it with struggling and doubting women, and help each of them to take a step in her own direction.

“Prince transcended radio’s apartheid like a musical Mandela.” – Bill Flanagan

Another AMAZING song that Prince wrote…

“With This Tear” was a gift from Prince, who wrote the song especially for Celine Dion and offered it to her. It’s also on the soundtrack of Sleepless In Seattle (one of my all-time favorite movies). The tracks were produced mainly by Walter Afanasieff, Ric Wake, and Guy Roche

Bill Flanagan of the CBS Sunday Morning show so eloquently said:

“Prince was a one-man Rainbow Coalition. He sang sweet soul ballads like Smokey Robinson; he laid down the funk like George Clinton; he rocked like the Rolling Stones; and he shredded on the guitar like Santana.” And, “Prince transcended radio’s apartheid like a musical Mandela.”

Lovin Who You Are

“It’s not about going back… it’s about life being ahead of you & you run at it, because you never know how far you can go.” —Penny Chenery Tweedy

Penny-Chenery-Net-Worth

I have watched the movie Secretariat, seriously, a hundred times and not because I simply love horses. It was because Diane Lane gave a star performance portraying a remarkable woman by the name of Penny Chenery Tweedy, the First Lady of Racing. Today she is my #TuesdayHeroine.

Being a strong-minded, no-nonsense, feisty woman allows me to say, “I am who I am. And I will not apologize for who I am. If you love me, you will accept me… Just Because.”

Penny was that woman, who saved her family’s horse farm by listening to her gut and ignoring all the odds stacked high against her, especially in the male-dominated breeding and horse racing industry of her time. She was the youngest of three children and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College, then studied at the Columbia Business School. Penny knew for certain what she truly believed thanks to her parents, and she stuck to her guns when she made the decision to take on the responsibility of running the farm.

It appeared at times that the only support she had came from her father’s secretary and the farm’s horse trainer. As a child she loved horses; she listened and watched intently as her father, who came from poor beginnings, built their farm of great horses even though he was facing financial straits. Their trainer, who was a sneaky, conniving thief, was trying to rob them of great thoroughbreds. Right before her mom died, she stopped the sale of three of their great thoroughbreds, which was being brokered by that very same conniving trainer. Not to mention, he also happened to be rude, obnoxious, and definitely disrespectful toward Penny.

Penny had to juggle her marriage and family (a husband and four children), who remained in Boulder, Colorado, with the responsibilities of the family’s horse farm, which was surely challenging at times. But, what I loved about Ms. Chenery Tweedy is that she stuck to her guns and ignored her bothersome brother–a professor at Harvard–and her husband who had joined forces to get her to sell the farm and, of course, Secretariat before the 1973 Kentucky Derby. REALLY?!

Secretariat is an American Classic, the story of a remarkable horse that won the 1973 Triple Crown, whose records have yet to be broken. And it was Penny’s brilliant mindset at the “Coin-Toss” alongside her father’s brilliant mind from which Secretariat was reared. Thank God that she ignored all the Nay-Sayers and embraced her belief and trust in SELF.

The moral of the story is to Never Give Up!!! When you believe in a thing, believe it wholeheartedly, unequivocally, where you can’t be shaken, rattled, or removed from it until it reaches full potential.

“Somehow I can’t believe that there are any heights that can’t be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.” —Walt Disney

Thank you, Ms. Penny Chenery Tweedy, for setting the stage for excellence, for never quitting or giving up, and for representing women exceptionally well. You are my #TuesdayHerione.

Love Says Jump

“I was tired of the way I was living. I was tired of going nowhere. I was sick and tired of being poor. I was completely worn out by poverty.” —Steve Harvey, Chapter 1, Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success

Happy #MindfulMonday! If there is a day that will remind you of how sick and tired you are for not making a change in your life and doing something to improve it, it’s Monday. Am I right?! So, it is on a Monday that I decided to share some inspiring thoughts I had the pleasure of finding within this 6 minute video, which has only catapulted my drive to succeed and continue to forge ahead with my goals of making the Lovin Self brand a household name. If you are not happy with your current situation or circumstance… who is going to be the first to change it? Your neighbor next door, the postal worker, or your imaginary friend (or, worse, an imaginary enemy)? Who is so tired of being the blame for your lackluster performance in the game of life.

Like many who have taken the #JUMP against all the odds and made it through–Joy Mangano, Oprah, Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, Steve Jobs, and Michael Jordan–you need to be willing to take the Jump or Leap of Faith that can change your life for the better. I learned a very long time ago that if you want anything to change that affects you, you need to be a part of the SOLUTION and not a part of the PROBLEM. Yes, the rich keep getting richer and the Middle Class has been displaced. So what do you do about it? Do you sit and whine, complain that it’s unfair? Or you could jump on the back of that runaway horse (The Kentucky Derby is fast approaching) and grab the reins and ride your now-winning horse to the finish line like Penny Tweedy (my #Heroine for tomorrow’s post) did in 1973. Her horse Secretariat won the Triple Crown!

“So many people are missing their way in life because they are afraid to sign the lease on their gift.” – Steve Harvey

Let me explain…

A lease is a legal document outlining the terms under which one party (Tenant) agrees to rent property from another party (Landlord). Your “Gift” is the Tenant, and you are the Landlord who is ready for the deal to happen; but you refuse to sign the “legal” contract because you are afraid to make the commitment to SELF.

Every person that exists in this world does have a gift or talent; as I mentioned prior, here are a few more people who have embraced their talents and enjoy the rewards: Rihanna, Beyonce, Mark Zuckerberg, Kim and Kanye.

The world is changing so fast that the Internet can’t keep up; but yet it is a tool that you can utilize to charge-up your career goals and your gift by offering you a platform from which you can #JUMP into the arena of executing your life’s dream. I have taken the plunge, so can you.

“When you put your efforts into your gift, you are giving God something to bless.” – Steve Harvey

Kobe, You’re Loved!

“I’ve shot too much from the time I was 8 years old. But ‘too much’ is a matter of perspective. Some people thought Mozart had too many notes in his compositions. Let me put it this way: I entertain people who say I shoot too much. I find it very interesting. Going back to Mozart, he responded to critics by saying there were neither too many notes or too few. There were as many as necessary.” – Kobe Bryant

The Utah Jazz probably never saw it coming. In his final game, after a 20-year career with the LA Lakers, Kobe Bryant has officially retired from the NBA. Scoring 60 points in this final game, to bring the Lakers up to over 100 points, taking over the Jazz with a 5-point lead in the final quarter. Reflecting on his career when the buzzer rang, Kobe hailed his team and sticking together through it all.

“This is absolutely crazy … and to be standing at center court with you guys, my teammates behind me, appreciating the journey that we’ve been on — we’ve been through our ups, been through our downs. I think the most important part is we all stayed together throughout.” (Source: ESPN)

That’s a sign of true leadership, of true appreciation. Being able to acknowledge that you couldn’t have done it alone. Now, Kobe is not one to belittle his own talent. He can acknowledge his own craft, his own power, and he knows his worth! That’s something we can all take to heart–know what you bring to the table and don’t let the haters make you think otherwise. When you’re the “third-leading scorer in the NBA” and honored as a “five-time NBA champion”, not to mention being an “18-time All Star”, you will definitely not entertain the haters! At least not for long…

“Take it all in. Sit back and watch and listen and hear all the hate that’s being thrown at us and remember every person that’s kicking you when you’re down, because next year it ain’t gonna be this way. Appreciate it now. Let it sit in now, because revenge is sweet and it’s quick.” (Source: ESPN)

#ThankYouKobe, for giving the world a role model in determination, dedication, and hard work. There are never too many shots, or too few, only as many as necessary. There is never too much for us to handle as long as we believe in SELF and are willing to put in the time and effort to making our dreams a reality! So, on this #ThoughtfulThursday, what are you doing to make your dreams come true?

Love the Masterpiece

I still fall on my face sometimes and I
Can’t color inside the lines ’cause
I’m perfectly incomplete
I’m still working on my masterpiece

 Jessie J – Masterpiece Lyrics | MetroLyrics

#HappyHumpDay!!! This week may have been a challenge, stressful, or even good; but the great thing is that you are near the end of the week, hopefully preparing for your weekend. You may have pissed someone off, because you’re not perfect or may have offended someone because of who you are. But you can #STOPTHEMADNESS. Even though who you are may be offensive to some, their reactions to your life are not within your control. You only (and always) have control over yourself and your reactions; please remember that. You can’t let someone else’s opinion of your life stop you from living it.

Steve Harvey is someone who I truly respect and admire because he keeps it real. I wanted to share with you this #AMAZING video where he speaks about “You Have To Jump.” Simply mind-blowing, and I will start my week off with it for #MindfulMonday. The more that we put off things that we can do now, or start now, will change our life path and decisions. So when we change our mind, we can change our life.

OK, I keep beating this dead horse, but I have to be honest in what has been fueling my energy: how the 2008 Banking Industry went down. How it was orchestrated, who paid for it (homeowners), and the result of it (the 1%ers got richer). OK, now what? If you don’t like your current situation or circumstance, try to change it. If you don’t like how the Fortune 500 is doing business, start your own. Complaining, being disgusted, and not being apart of the solution automatically makes you apart of the problem.

Listen, I was there. I always had a job to maintain my life, take care of my daughter, put her in the best of private schools to give her the advantage that I didn’t have. Now, I am in a position to work for SELF; and there is definitely no turning back. Losing my job was the best thing that happened to me because it made me React, Regroup, and Affect change in my life for the betterment of ME.

“Life is a journey, not a destination.” – Susan L. Taylor

The message behind this: #WORKFORSELF!!! Yes, it appears that we hate on the 1%ers, but make the choice and do something different so you too can make life-changing decisions in your life that can’t be affected by decisions that the 1%ers make.

“You have not seen the best of me,” says Jessie J, so step out on faith, and #JUMP like Mr. Harvey said. In my world, EVERYONE is held accountable for what happens in your life based on your life choices.
